Special invitation to our
20th Anniversary celebration
We invite women in your community to join us to participate in a special performance: Renowned feminist artists Patricia Ariza and Beatriz Monsalve will guide a group of women through the creation of a performance based on immigration and domestic violence. Participants will be able to experience the joy of creating collectively and the satisfaction of artistic expression.
About the artists
Patricia Ariza (Queens Play Director)
Playwright, poet, actress, theater director, performer, and activist for Peace. Co-founder of the Teatro La Candelaria. In 2014 Ariza was honored by the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW) in New York City with the Gilder/Coigney International Theatre Award, acknowledging her exceptional work in theatre around the world.
Beatriz Monsalve (Bronx Play Director)
Theater director, performer. Theatrically trained at the Experimental Theater of Cali with the teacher Enrique Buenaventura. She is co-founder and artistic director of the Barco Ebrio Theater group. She has also trained in theater at the Odin Week Festival Holstebro and has participated in directing and acting workshops with Eugenio Barba, Cesar Brie, Laura García. She recently received the award for long- standing Cultural Management, Secretary of Culture of Cali, Colombia 2021.
DETAILS
THERE WILL BE TWO GROUPS, ONE IN THE BRONX AND ONE IN QUEENS.
Participants will receive a small stipend to cover transportation costs to rehearsals and performances.
Some meals/snacks will be provided.
